Thao & Mirah Announce Collaborative Album

via The Bay Bridged and Pitchfork. Thao Nguyen of Thao + The Get Down Stay Down is one of my favorite Bay Area artists and has been entertaining me via her childhood invoking lyrics and great live presence for more than a few years now. The way she plays her guitar and her how her voice runs to a high pitched wail are absolutely enthralling. I was happy, then, to see today the announcement of a new Thao record collaborating with singer/songwriter Mirah. The two have apparently been touring together and promising this very record for a while now and on April 26th, Kill Rock Stars will make it a reality. From what I’ve heard it looks like quite the promising duo. Check out the video of the duo from yourstru.ly after the break.

The Seedy Seeds Announce Nationwide Tour, New Record “Verb Noun”

photo credit: Scott Beseler | http://www.taketheday.com/It’s finally happening. One of my absolute favorite bands both from when I lived in Cincinnati, and pretty much ever, is traveling around the country and hitting the west coast on the way. You can check out when they are coming to your neck of the woods on their Facebook page or after the break. For me it’s gonna be March 27th at Hotel Utah in San Francisco. In addition to the tour the band recently finished recording their third full length Verb Noun to be released in the Cincinnati area on February 22nd. I think I may just have to give local Cincinnati record store Shake It a call and have them ship it out to me. Heck, yes.

Daniel Martin Moore – New Album ‘In The Cool Of The Day’

Alerted to me via Each Note Secure and Buzzgrinder. Daniel Martin Moore’s collaboration with Ben Sollee, Dear Companion, will most likely finish the year as one of my top picks, so I’m quite excited to see that he’s releasing a new record on January 18 of next year. Martin Moore’s sound invokes the the hills of his native Kentucky and if you want an example of how modern bluegrass and folk can be interesting and emotional look no further than Daniel. You can listen and download the track “Dark Road” from the new album at SubPop. If this song is any indication, I’m expecting good things from the In The Cool Of The Day.

Say Hi – New Album ‘Um, Uh Oh’

On January 25th, one of my favorite artists, Say Hi, aka Eric Elbogen, will be releasing his seventh full length album Um, Uh Oh on Barsuk records. There’s also a slew of tour dates to boot that you can find here. If you can’t wait that long Mr. Elbogen as released a single of new song “Devil” as well as a cover of Violent Femmes “Kiss Off” over on iTunes so you can pick that up while you’re grabbing The Beatles in Mp3. He’s also posted a track here. On first listen I wasn’t that thrilled with the song but it’s growing on me with is simple guitar lines and lyrics, which is pretty much how it happens with every Say Hi record. I just can’t seems to quit the guy.

Eat Sugar Dropping New Stuff On the World

This may be a repost of something from Each Note Secure, however considering it’s information about the upcoming release of local Cincinnati heroes Eat Sugar‘s first full length, I think that it’s worth spreading around. ¡Levantense! will be released onto an unsuspecting public on August 24th and hopefully will get all the cool kids dancing to the bands electro-punk stylings. Below you can listen to one of the new tracks “Shadowside”, a recommended activity.

Also this is certainly one of the weirdest and most entertaining music videos I have seen in a while.
